2015 Los Angeles Auto Show Overview: Sedans

2015_LAAS_BAS-IMG_9063-showfloorOne of the most influential auto shows in the world, the Los Angeles Auto Show sets the tone for the entire auto show season.

We saw so many vehicles at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, we had to break them into three separate stories highlighting the fun cars, the sedans, and the utility vehicles. Here is the second installment, focusing on a variety of sedans that will soon be for sale in the United States.

2015_LAAS-audi-la-auto-showAudi showcased a trio of new performance vehicles at the Los Angeles Auto Show, including an all-new R8, RS7 performance, and S8 plus editions. Promising to be the fastest and most powerful Audi of all time, the second-generation 2017 Audi R8 supercar offers a choice of two high-performance powertrain variants: the 540-horsepower, 5.2-liter V-10 or the 610-hp, V-10 Plus. The new 2016 Audi RS7 performance boasts more power and performance thanks to a 605-hp engine for those who seek track tested performance, along with a striking RS four-door super coupe design and Audi's premium refinement. And, finally, the 2016 Audi S8 plus luxury sedan takes the indulgent S8 model line to a higher level of performance thanks to a powerful 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that boasts 605 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft. of torque. If you have to ask how much these high-performance Audis cost, you can't afford them.

2015_LAAS_BAS-IMG_9137-2017_hyundai_elantraAs one of Hyundai’s all-time best-selling models, the Elantra enters its sixth generation for the 2017 model year. Slightly larger inside and out, the new 2017 Hyundai Elantra boasts a bold aerodynamic design and sophisticated styling; two all-new  powertrains promising enhanced fuel economy, better ride quality, and noise insulation; and comprehensive safety features including lane keep assist, blind spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert and lane change assist, a rearview camera, and available automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

2015_LAAS-JAGUAR_XE_AWDJaguar revealed an updated version of its XE compact sports sedan, now featuring three powertrain options, available all-wheel-drive, and new infotainment features including an Apple Watch App, Wi-Fi hotspot for up to eight devices, and a suite of connected services through its tablet-style 10.2-inch touchscreen InControl Touch Pro system. In addition to Jaguar's already impressive range of advanced driver assistance systems, the refreshed Jaguar XE gains lane keep assist, adaptive speed limiter, and driver condition monitor, a feature that can detect and warn against driver fatigue. The 2017 Jaguar XE will start at $34,900 when it arrives at dealerships in the spring.

2015_LAAS_BAS-IMG_9064-lincoln_mkzLincoln launched a massive refresh of its MKZ midsize luxury sedan with all new sheetmetal and dramatic new grille, a more nimble ride, improved interior, and more safety features (Lincoln boasts the 2017 MKZ will be their first car with automatic braking collision avoidance). Promising three drivetrains including a hybrid, at the top of the line is a new twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine boasting 400 horsepower. The 2017 Lincoln MKZ is expected to hit dealerships in summer 2016.

2015_LAAS_bas-IMG_9099-Nissan_sentraNissan debuted an all-new version of its popular Sentra compact sedan upgraded for 2016 model year with a refreshed interior styled with soft-touch materials and additional safety and technology features. Nissan says the Sentra's complete makeover includes a new exterior redesign that better reflects the company’s new design language, bringing it closer in look and feel to the new 2016 Maxima and redesigned 2016 Altima. Emphasizing a long list of standard features at an affordable price, the 2016 Nissan Sentra will start at $16,780 MSRP when it arrives at dealerships in late December.

Yesterday's segment focused on the fun coupes, convertibles, and sporty cars that will soon be for sale in the United States. Keep an eye out for tomorrow's Los Angeles Auto Show feature that will highlight the selection of utility vehicles that were on display.
