NAIAS Product Specialist Changes the Definition of “Booth Babe”

Jennifer_Parmenter_NAIAS_7255In addition to the cars themselves, auto shows are (in)famously known for the assortment of pretty women on demo stands, their presence intended to attract visitors to the vehicles on display.

The most popular product specialist at this year’s North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is positioned in the smart booth -- and while she is certainly curvaceous, her loveliness is more apparent in her baby bump than in other physical attributes. In an atmosphere where slim and sexy “booth babes” help sell cars, this booth has its own attraction: a baby on board!

Smart Product Specialist Jennifer Parmenter is six and half months pregnant and she is definitely attracting show attendees to the smart exhibit. "The pregnant model blew us away," said showgoer Christine McNaught. "We were just walking around looking at cars and noticed her." Once they’re there, her growing baby bump is helping NAIAS shoppers see how the small car can accommodate larger bodies, and her vehicle product knowledge is helping family shoppers learn more about the safety of car seats and LATCH installations.

But, Gary Grant from said it best: “Kudos to the folks at Smart for going against the grain and having a front line show staffer who is special because she is normal.”

As any woman knows, it can be a challenge to spend an entire day on your feet. Most auto show product specialists have to do it in heels and formal attire. Luckily for pregnant Parmenter, she’s got a stool to rest on.
