Classic Porsches have Panache

Celebrating-60-years-porsche-america Six decades after New York City businessman Max Hoffman sparked America's passion for Porsche's  first streamlined and sporty cars in 1950, Porsche is celebrating its anniversary with a variety of activities aimed at the classic car and its enthusiast owners, all served up at www.Porsche60Years.com.

New is nice, but classic is fantastic: Have you got a fantastic classic? Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) is launching the My Classic Porsche Search to find the oldest Porsches in 12 distinctive model categories, as well as the very oldest Porsche of all. If you think you have a shot at earning the "oldest" designation for your car, simply enter it at My Classic Porsche Search Entries can be submitted for 12 model ranges, including the Porsche 356, 911, 912, 914, 924, 928, 944, 968, Boxster, Cayenne, Carrera GT, and Cayman. In addition, the search is on for the Grossvater of all Porsches on American soil: the oldest Porsche ever sold in the United States. Owners of Porsches "with papers" can review the participation guidelines and enter online until October 1 at My Classic Porsche Search. The oldest Porsches and their owners will receive special recognition and awards, including an exclusive badge from the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.  Exhibition-quality images of select winning models will also be featured at the new "Sixty Years of Porsche in America" exhibit, opening October 12 at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany. One vehicle may even be selected to be displayed in the Porsche exhibit at the upcoming 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show.

OldestmodelPhoto1 Maybe you don't have the oldest Porsche on the continent, but you think you've got the best one? Porsche invites you to share your story with other fans, as part of the My Porsche Passion Contest. Until November 1, 2010, Porsche aficionados can write and upload a 500-words-or-less story that exemplifies their unique passion for a specific Porsche car, an experience, or the brand as a whole. A special panel of Porsche judges will select 20 finalists, and fans will then vote online for their favorite. The three entries with the most votes will win an all-expense-paid trip the Porsche Sport Driving School in Birmingham, Alabama. Ladies, if you want an exhilarating opportunity to learn to drive FAST in a safe environment, this is it!

If you're not after prizes, fame, or glory, and just want to be included in the anniversary celebration, you can add your car or favorite Porsche memory to the Porsche Family Tree.  At the time of this writing, more than 3100 stories had been added to the growing collection -- including one of our own

Don't want to share, just like to watch? Then this page of Porsche Family Stories may be just want you're after:  Thrilling race wins, shattered records, technological feats -- from legendary Porsche owners, racers, and enthusiasts like Freeman Thomas, Jerry Seinfeld, Patrick Long, and Hurley Haywood, as well as ordinary folks just like you.
