13th Annual Urban Wheel Awards Tonight!
An independent panel of automotive journalists have cast their votes for the finalists of the 2009 Urban Wheel Awards, which will be held tonight, January 13, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at the Detroit Opera House.
Co-hosts Sheryl Lee Ralph, acclaimed veteran of film, television and the Broadway stage, and Tony Plana, award-winning star of ABC's Ugly Betty and director of stage and screen, will lead a cast of local and national presenters for the awards show.
On Wheels Media, Inc. has produced the annual Urban Wheel Awards, the automotive industry's premier diversity awards ceremony held in conjunction with the North American International Auto Show, since 1996. The Urban Wheel Awards honor pioneering automotive industry leaders and serve as an educational vehicle to increase awareness among minority audiences about the importance of diversity to the industry.
Urban Wheel Awards are presented in categories including Company of the Year, Minority Executive of the Year, Diversity in Motorsports, Urban Car of the Year, and Urban Truck of the Year.
In addition to people, organizations and vehicles, Urban Wheel Awards are also presented for the best automotive diversity advertisements for 2008. The diversity advertisement of the year awards are presented to the advertising agency producing the most popular print and broadcast advertisements geared to African-American, Latino and Asian markets.
