AskPatty.com Inc., a website, blog, and online resource that serves as a safe haven for women to get advice on car purchases, preventative maintenance and repairs, and other automotive related topics, has announced a new phase in the ongoing evolution of its Certified Female Friendly® Program, aimed at assisting automotive retailers in attracting and retaining women customers.
“The kind of service that will work for the independent shop or tire dealer will not work in the dealer world. Dealers are very unique,” explains Jody DeVere. “Part of our renewed focus on giving our clients the support they need is moving our dealers into their own category, so that they're treated differently from start to finish. We really take our work in the dealer world very seriously.”
You need service help for your vehicle. Soon. What do you do? The service indicator light is on, or your car is pulling to the right, or you hear a thump or strange noise. Or you just know it’s time for an oil change, or at least some type of service. You have to do something right away. But you’ve heard horror stories about atrocities and being ripped off at auto repair shops or auto dealership service departments.
The first-ever Women in Automotive Convention will draw upon top female success stories as it assists the automotive community in recruiting, retaining, and developing female employees and leaders. Women make up just 17% of employees at auto dealerships according to NADA – and organizers of the conference are working diligently to raise this number, beginning with this event.
The conference is set for Tuesday through Thursday, August 18-20, 2015, at the Ballroom at Church Street in downtown Orlando, Florida. The three-day conference includes a recruiting event, speakers, breakout sessions, workshops, and booth displays – all centered on the goal of educating and inspiring women in all areas of the automotive industry.
And how do dealerships perceive and address women coming into their organizations?
By Thomas Procter
In a time that women have as much as 85% influence on all vehicle purchases, you might think this statistic would stimulate an interest from women in participating in the automotive industry as a career, or at least part-time. Yet, fewer than 7% of all auto salespeople are women. Even more remarkably, statistics show that these 7% are most often in the top 10% of sales for the dealerships for which they work. One might surmise that this success rate would be a tempting carrot for women wanting to make a substantial income, with benefits. Income for women in this category can realistically range from $5,000 to $12,000 per month, and even more, before taxes.

November has lots of stuff going on! It's the month we raise awareness of Child Safety Protection and Drowsy Driving Prevention, and attend SEMA and AAPEX in Las Vegas early in the month, and the Connected Car Expo and Los Angeles Auto Show later in the month. It's a good time to enjoy football tailgating and prepare our cars for Winter before it gets too cold.
Let's not forget "Go for a Ride" day on November 22, and Thanksgiving on the 27th. "Movember" also brings facial hair beneath the noses of the men we know and love as they commit to growing and supporting moustaches to raise funds and awareness for men's health. We'll also be ushering in the holiday season and gift guides at month's end.
