Mercedes-Benz Stays Connected to Fashion Elite as Title Sponsor of Fashion Week
Look closely--that's not your typical police car! Last May, Mercedes-Benz announced that it had renewed its Fashion Week sponsorship for another three years. In 2007, the German luxury automaker became the title sponsor of IMG's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami. Mercedes-Benz is now also the title sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. The New York Fashion Week Fall Collections will be shown from February 10-17, 2011 at Lincoln Center.
Over eight days, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, produced by IMG Fashion, will play host to more than 100,000 guests who will flock to see the Fall Collection of more than 80 prominent designers including Diane von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Vera Wang, Michael Kors, Derek Lam, Tommy Hillfiger, Prabal Gurung, Nicole Miller, Charlotte Ronson, Tory Burch, and Betsey Johnson.
As part of its sponsorship, Mercedes-Benz will also make the U.S. debut of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK during Fashion Week. The car is displayed in a photo booth installation in the lobby tent. Attendees will be allowed to take part in photo shoots each day with a chance to show off their style in "THE FIX" section of The Daily throughout Fashion Week.
Mercedes-Benz is also showing off the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG in a display that also features designs by Hervé Léger by Max Azria, who received the title of “Mercedes-Benz Presents” designer for the Fall 2011 season. The display is prominently positioned in the lobby entrance of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The CLS 63 AMG is also be driven through the streets of Manhattan under the police car- themed guise of the “Mercedes-Benz Fashion Force.” Celebrity Stylist, Brad Goreski (Rachel Zoe Project) and a team of fashion bloggers (“Fashion Enforcers”) have been driving around from last Thursday through today and stopping stylish pedestrians, and offering them a ride to their next destination, along with some invites to Fashion Week runway shows and events.
“Mercedes-Benz has a natural affinity with the world of fashion with cars that appeal to those with a strong sense of style,” said Lisa Holladay, manager of brand experience for Mercedes-Benz USA.
For those who are able to drop thousands of dollars on a designer dress, the 2012 CLS 63 AMG, which starts at $98,825 when it goes on sale this summer, might very well be on their radar as well.
