Women in Motorsports Blog Carnival - March 5

Wonder how Danica did at Vegas? Or what other fabulous females are taking to a track near you this season? Then, you're in the right in the place. AskPatty.com rounds up all the news from gear girls all over the world.

Race carNo matter what you think about Danica Patrick, you can't argue that she is an inspiration.

A trio of young Canadian women can thank her for taking to the track.

These girls have managed to fit in racing while going to top area colleges, realizing an education in the classroom is just as important as an education on the track.

Danica Danica Patrick isn't giving up yet.

Patrick wrecked on the 83rd lap of the Las Vegas Nationwide Series race last Sunday after hitting the lapped car of Michael McDowell, finishing 36th.

She ran as high as third before wrecking out of the Sam's Town 300.

"Kevin Harvick was great actually," Patrick said. "Leading the race, he's telling me to go up high with him, so that was cool. I was able to run up high, and feel that line out, because he was giving me the finger out the window. That's really cool to see that, because the guy is leading the race and he's taking time to help me out."

It is Patrick's last NASCAR race until June. For the next four months she will head back to her full time job in the IndyCar Series.

Asley Chicagoland's largest custom car show will feature Ashley Force Hood's Ronald McDonald House Charity themed NHRA Mustang Funny Car. O'Reilly's Auto Parts and South Oak Dodge will present the 48th Annual World of Wheels, March 5-7 2010, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. Force Hood’s Mustang will be on display as part of the Chicago BrushMaster Kustom Kulture Art Auction with all proceeds going to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. Fans will be able to get their photo taken beside the Mustang throughout the weekend and get an up close look at one of the fastest race cars in motor sports.

"I was thrilled to be able to help raise awareness and donations for the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Seattle and Sonoma. BrandSource, one of our major sponsors, is very involved with this organization and their president Bob Lawrence, started talking with us about getting involved in early 2009. We got really excited about all the opportunities to help so this program came together very quickly," said Force Hood.

Tiffany daniels Check out Tiffany Daniels' blog which shares her adventures as a female race car driver in South Africa.  In her last blog, she talks poignantly about her experiences and emotions off the track.

"This is going to be my last South Africa-related blog," writes Daniels. "Because I described all of on-track details of the race last time, I want to focus this blog on my off-track experiences, which will hopefully give everyone a little bit of insight into our trip."

Ana Ana Beatriz, the first female to win a Firestone Indy Lights race, is slated to become the latest driver to graduate from Firestone Indy Lights to the IZOD IndyCar Series.

Beatriz, the first female to win a Firestone Indy Lights race, will compete with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in the season opener March 14 on the streets of the most-populated city in South America.

"We are excited about going to Brazil for the first time with the IZOD IndyCar Series and putting Ana Beatriz in our car at Brazil adds another dimension to our program," team co-owner Dennis Reinbold said. "We are happy to have her on board for the Brazil race."

Shea When Shea Holbrook hits the track for the World Challenge in St. Pete, Fla., she will be doing it for a good cause: the Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy.

It is Holbrook's goal to raise $10,000 by March 28.
