Are you Following Ford's Music Videos on American Idol?

Here at AskPatty, we're not sure which part of American Idol we enjoy more: Rooting for Danny Gokey, or watching the weekly music videos featuring a variety of Ford vehicles.

For the eighth year, Ford continues to create custom music videos (According to an article at the Los Angeles Times Ford insists they not be called commercials) featuring all of the post-elimination contestants each week. Apparently, the recent economic downturn and resulting tightened advertising budgets have not forced Ford to abandon its 10-season, reported $25-million-plus sponsorship deal with Fox's "American Idol" show. And we're glad!

You can watch the entire collection of Season Eight Ford Music Videos at the American Idol Site. Songs range from the most recent "Freeze Frame" remake, which features the Ford Mustang along with the top seven finalists performing from the covers of newsstand magazines, to a mix-and-match video featuring the Ford Fusion and various pieces of the performers. An early video projects the top 13 finalists on the buildings of downtown Los Angeles as they serenade a Ford Fusion to the tune of "We Will Rock You." Each weekly video is also followed by a fun sequel that explains how the video was inspired and created.

Ford Music Video fans can also enter the Ford Music Video Challenge for a weekly chance to win a limited-edition American Idol Ford Fusion (ARV/MSRP $27,000) with karaoke LCD monitors and microphone and special American Idol badging, as well as a chance to hang with the Idols and see a video filmed live -- something Ford is calling the "Ford/American Idol Experience" (ARV $3,500). One grand-prize winner will be selected at the end of the period from among all eligible non-winning Entries received during the entire sweepstakes period to win a 2010 One-of-a-Kind custom American Idol-inspired / Ford Fusion Hybrid (ARV/MSRP $31,000) and a trip for two (2) to the American Idol finale in Los Angeles, California, sometime between May 18 and May 21, 2009.

As the promotion and American Idol season goes on, Ford promises additional opportunities will be provided for customers to experience the 2010 Fusion firsthand while enjoying American Idol at the grassroots level. The weekly contest runs until 7:59 PM ET on May 8, 2009.
