High School Punk Goes Agro, BEATS School Bus Driver
Kalamazoo, Michigan, doesn't sound like it would be a hotbed of violence, but it's ranking high in google searches this week because of one particularly agitated high school student who couldn't control his temper, and took it out on the school bus driver by pummeling her with his fists.
I've always enjoyed Cheech Marin's children's CD "My Name Is Cheech, the school bus driver," and because of his lighthearted soundtrack, have pictured the job as being something fun and educational and lighthearted. Not so for this bus driver, who suffered injuries in the attack, including a broken hand/finger, cuts, bruising, and a broken blood vessel in her face.
In-bus video (NOT for the faint of heart) presented at The Weekly Vice documents the violence of the attack in painful detail. Kalamazoo Asst. Prosecutor, Karen Hayter, says the Kalamazoo teen will be charged as a juvenile with intent to do great bodily harm.
Apparently, another student did attempt to come to the bus driver's aid, but the punk beat him up too. Unfortunately, students on the bus who witnessed the attack don't seem to have much to say about what they saw.
I'm absolutely shocked by the behavior and language demonstrated by the kids in this video. I don't want my kids on any bus with kids behaving like this! What is happening to our youth, that this kind of behavior could be considered acceptable? Anybody want to weigh in on this? Please share your opinions here.
