Saturn Outlook Named IIHS Top Safety Pick Award Winner
The Saturn Outlook was recently named as an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick 2008 for its performance in front, side, and rear crash tests.
The IIHS Top Safety Pick for the Outlook is one of many top safety ratings for Saturn products. Saturn Vue crossovers built after November 2007 also earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick designation. In addition, Outlook, Vue and the Aura midsize sedan have all received the highest possible rating - 5 stars - in federal government frontal and side-impact testing.
During BlogHer 2006, I got the opportunity to drive several different Saturn models, including the Vue Hybrid (which wasn't yet on the market), the Aura, and my favorite, the Sky. I was pleasantly surprised at the pep from the Vue Hybrid, and enjoyed the way it handled, too. My husband, who was a mechanic for over 20 years, always had good things to say about Saturns and their maintenance and said if I wanted one it would be a good buy.
We're quite a ways away from a new vehicle - my 1999 Honda Accord will have to do for now. But seeing that several Saturns rated well in rear crash tests as well as front and side, I will test drive them again when I start looking.
Saturn says that the Outlook has the best highway fuel economy rating (24 mpg) of any eight-passenger SUV or crossover.
