Don't Forget to Drive your Corvette to Work on Friday, June 27!
Friday, June 27th, 2008, is the 8th Annual "Drive Your Corvette To Work Day," sponsored by Mid America Motorworks. In honor of "Drive Your Corvette To Work Day," Mid-America invites Corvette enthusiasts across America to make "America's Sports Car" their commuter car for the day.
"Drive Your Corvette To Work Day is held on the Friday closest to June 30th, when the first Corvette rolled off the assembly line in 1953 in Flint, Michigan. We encourage every Corvette owner to drive his or her car on June 27th because it is the perfect way to say 'Happy Birthday' to America's favorite sports car," says Mike Yager, founder and "Chief Cheerleader" of Mid America Motorworks, the world's leading supplier of Corvette parts and accessories.
Each year, Mid America Motorworks promotes "Drive Your Corvette To Work Day" among Corvette owners and clubs, with their simple goal to have as many Corvette owners as possible drive their car to work that day. Ladies, don't miss your chance to declare your love for your Corvette!
Launched in 2001, Mid America Motorworks' "Drive Your Corvette To Work Day" is an annual event celebrated by thousands of Corvette owners. Yager says this year's event is especially noteworthy as 2008 is General Motor's 100th anniversary and many enthusiasts feel the Chevrolet Corvette is arguably GM's greatest contribution to the automotive world.
Okay. Maybe this guy on the left here isn't exactly what they have in mind but, according to Yager, "We understand why many owners consider their Corvette to be a special car and only drive it occasionally." Yager continues, "We think driving your Corvette to work, at least one day a year, is an excellent way to demonstrate just how popular Corvettes are. Wave to other Corvette owners-- it's a perfect chance for Corvette owners to meet new Corvette owners."
Corvette owners who observe "Drive Your Corvette To Work Day" are encouraged to send photos or high-resolution digital pictures of their car at work to clubs@mamotorworks.com or P.O. Box 1368, Effingham, IL 62401. Mid America Motorworks will post as many pictures as possible on their website, www.mamotorworks.com/corvette.
And, if this event isn't sufficient to quench your Corvette enthusiasm, consider joining Mid America for what they call "the ultimate customer appreciation party" The Corvette Funfest! Hosted every year by Mid America Motorworks as a way of saying "Thank You!" to their Corvette customers, Corvette Funfest is held at Mid America Motorworks campus in Effingham, Illinois. This FREE event is one of the largest Corvette gatherings in the world; in fact, Yager says more than 15,000 Corvettes and over 45,000 Corvette enthusiasts participated in Corvette Funfest 2007.
This year's 15th Annual Corvette Funfest 2008 will be held September 19-21 when they celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Corvette Challenge Race Series. Click here to download this year's Corvette Fun Fest Flyer.
