Women in Motorsports Blog Carnival - March 6
From the United Kingdom to the United States, AskPatty.com has all the news reported around the motorsports universe.
Tom Clark Motorsports Honda’s Angel Atwell staked her claim to a big 2008 season by taking the Women’s class and the overall win. Defending Women’s Champion Traci Cecco took second on her factory Yamaha after a crash, with Warnert Racing Can-Am’s Michael Swift turning in the top utility machine performance by finishing third overall and winning the 4x4 Limited class on an Outlander 800.
Danica Patrick made an abbreviated appearance on media day at Homestead-Miami Speedway during testing, didn’t turn a lap on the first day of an IndyCar Series Open Test, then came out feeling less than 100 percent on but still set the pace on the final day of testing.
Despite feeling ill, Patrick was the quickest of 16 drivers on the 1.5-mile, high-banked oval, recording a best lap of 25.0772 seconds, 213.182 mph.
“I was sicker than I’ve ever been before on a day when I had to do something,” said Patrick. “I was dizzy and my head was full of pressure. I didn’t feel balanced - on top of other things. For me, it would have been silly to try and push it and go out there and try and feel the edge at a place like Homestead where the grip and the intensity level is pretty high compared to the rest of the mile-and-a-halfs.
“Today was a good day. It’s kind of nice to go out there, skip a day, go out and be quickest. We were definitely struggling with the race car."

Pro-silk hair products describes NHRA racer Peggy Llewellyn as "a beautiful intelligent, petite self-proclaimed “girly girl” that really, really likes to go fast." Her friends know her as Peg, but NHRA drag cycle fans know her as Peggy Llewellyn the “6 second wonder”. Following in her father’s footsteps, Ms. Llewellyn is a second-generation motorcycle drag racer. Her affinity for high speed blossomed at an early age when her father rocketed his nitro powered Honda down the drag strip and forged the legacy.
Ms. Llewellyn’s career compounds that difficulty and so Peggy relies on ProSilk professional styling tools and hair care products to keep her hair healthy and beautiful under extreme conditions. Her proud multicultural heritage has blessed her with naturally curly hair, but she regularly uses straightening irons and blow dryers as part of her beauty process.
“ProSilk has changed the condition of my hair. It feels luxurious and has incredible shine. The Far infrared dryer is my favorite styling tool, it dries faster then other dryers and I love how the far infrared actually moisturizes my hair while drying. I can really feel the difference," adds Llewellyn.
Up and coming driver Anna Walewska has committed to Geoff Steel Racing for 2008.
Anna will be racing the Production S1 Championship run by the EERC Britcar. This will be her second full year in the championship and she has big expectations: "After finishing 3rd last year I am aiming to win it this year. The car has undergone a lot of work over the winter and will be out on the 28th Feb at Silverstone.
"The team and I have a really good working relationship and I believe we have developed the car enough for it to be running at the front this year, we will have to wait and see. PS1 is going to be very competitive with big grids I can't wait to get stuck in."
Susie Stoddart is a racer from Scotland, who is making quite a splash in the auto racing arena. In 2004, she scored three podium finishes in British Formula Renault, and last season she had great success in DTM with TV Spielfilm Mucke Motorsport Now you can follow along with her racing adventures through her exclusive blog.
