In Memory of Tamara L. Towse - A Car Accident Killed My Dear Friend

I5 I browse the news feeds daily for material for blogging. Using the keyword "car" most of the articles are about car accidents. I skip over these articles most days as it would be too morbid to blog about every car accident I come across in the news.

Every 13 minutes, there is a death caused by a motor vehicle accident. There are approximately 3 million car-related injuries per year, 2 million permanent injuries, and 40,000 deaths in the U.S. annually.

Tamara Towse was my dear friend of 17 years. She died last Sunday in a car accident on Interstate 5. She and her husband were on their way home from a romantic get-a-way in Oregon.

I am absolutely devastated at the news of her death.

News Brief:

"A Riverside County woman died in a rollover crash on Interstate 5 near Buttonwillow Sunday night.

Highway Patrol officers said Tamara Towse, 48, from Sun City was driving a Toyota SUV when a rear tire blew out.

She lost control of the car and it overturned several times into the center divider.

She died at the scene, and (her husband), a passenger was hospitalized."

Rafting_kern Camping on the Kern River many, many weekends over the years and enjoying our shared love of white water boating with Tamara, Dave, her husband of some 20+ years and her three beautiful children, are some of the fondest and most memorable times of my life.

Tamara was one of the most generous and kind spirited woman I have ever known. Her love and commitment to family and friends, her sense of wonder at the natural world, her courage on the river, her sense of humor and calm level head made our times together camping on the Kern River so precious.

I feel such sorrow for her husband ,her children, her family and her dear friends who will miss her bright light in our lives.

Tragic, painful, sorrowful, angry, tear and sobs filled with grief.

Labor Day weekend the death rate goes up on car accidents, please drive safely this coming weekend. I don't want to find YOU in one of my news feeds, too.
